Let's be Friends..

It has almost been 2 weeks that we have officially been open. I feel so extremely blessed with the amount of interest that there has been on social media since we have become ‘official’ and our doors are open.

Like any new business, it has been an uphill battle to get to this point, and even though it may look like it has come easy, there were a lot of speed wobbles that needed to be overcome on the back-end. However, we are here.

One thing I have learnt through this entire journey is the value of working together and supporting each other. I have met such amazing people over the last couple of months from an amazing chiropractor specialising in paeds, an awesome paediatrician who has just opened up practice close to us, sleep experts, massage experts, music teachers, OTs and a bunch of entrepreneurs who’s stock we carry in the Baby Boutique. As much as my mission is to support moms whether it be at the spa, workshops or group classes, it is also to support other momtrepreneurs and woman who have their own business (no offence to men, you guys are just not really involved in the baby industry – sorry for generalizing!).

Starting your own business is tough, ensuring it is a success is even tougher, I would essentially like Baby Bubble to be a platform where we can boost each other’s businesses. Yes, there may be times that we may have a similar vision, and I have come across this a few times over the last couple of months, but we can still work together and be respectful towards each other’s goals. It sounds crazy right? I really feel that a lot of businesses Achilles heel is that they feel threatened by competition or by similar services. At the end of the day, each of us has our own identity, our own brand, our own approach, our own ‘heart’. And your identity may resonate with some people and mine with others. Of course, I am not shying away from the fact that if there are too many competitors in one space a business is less likely to be successful (Business 101). But spend more time on focusing on developing what your brand represents, not to get too obsessed about analysing other’s. If there are businesses with similar offerings see what distinguishes you from each other & figure out if you can’t springboard services from each other.

Anyways, let’s chat again in 3 years time and see whether this philosophy works but I believe it will.
